Food
Famous for its Tuesday morning winter truffle market, the
Lot offers numerous delicacies and, accordingly, restaurants
offering mouthwatering menus where you can savour them. Truffles,
foie gras, walnuts, the local goats cheese 'cabecou' take
your pick and don't forget to wash it all down with one of
the fabulous local wines.

Just ten minutes from 'Le Mas des
Cyprès' you'll find the reasonably priced Auberge
Rustica. Travel 10 minutes along the Lot valley and you
will find the popular 'La
Truite Dorée'. This riverside hotel and
restaurant with its wide menu is popular with locals and visitors
alike.
Just twenty minutes away in the Célé
valley you will find the riverside Hotel
des Grottes.
Venture a little
further and you will gasp in wonder at the magnificent village
of St Cirq Lapopie built high up into the cliffs. Here you
will find the amazing 'Le Gourmet Quercynois' restaurant where
advance booking is a must.

Wine
Famous for it's
vineyards since the sixteenth century, the Lot valley offers
some outstanding red and rosé wines. Spend a day driving
through the numerous vineyards, stopping off to visit some
beautiful chateaux and their cellars where you can sample
some of the magnificent 'black' Cahors wines. Try the famous
'Château
Lagrezette'.
Alternatively peruse the local wines
at your leisure in one of the many 'caves'
within and around Cahors. |
